Hurtigruten Winter

A winter experience, in search of the Northern Lights, when the landscape is covered in pure white snow is a beautiful and refreshing experience.

Hunting the Northern Lights

Winter is a special time to explore Norway’s northern reaches, sail deep within the Arctic Circle in the warm and comfortable surroundings of a Hurtigruten ship. The landscape is covered in white snow and the air is fresh, pure and crisp.

Those in the know will tell you that in winter the Norwegian landscape is bathed in beautiful shades of gold, pink and blue, as well as the illusive, dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis. And there is no better way to experience the Northern Lights than on a Hurtigruten voyage sailing through sheltered coastal waters free from artificial light. Sailing far, far north
We sail far above the Arctic Circle. The coast of Norway is one of few places in the world where this is possible in wintertime, due to ice free ports as a result of the Gulf Stream.
