Join us on our 12-day Classic Voyage with an exclusive special guest, where you can combine two fascinating cultural and historical topics, the Vikings and the history of World War II in Norway, and history comes to life! Renowned historian and professor Dr. Terje Leiren will share his knowledge of the Vikings and World War II in Norway through films, intriguing lectures, and shore excursions as we sail along the astoundingly beautiful nature of the Norwegian coast.

If you are short on time, experience the 7-day northbound voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes, which focuses on the Viking coast, or the 8-day southbound voyage from Kirkenes to Bergen, which focuses on the history of World War II in Norway.

YOUR LECTURER ON BOARD

Dr. Terje Leiren has partnered with Hurtigruten to craft this unique itinerary of a lifetime. Dr. Leiren is a Professor of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Leiren teaches courses in Scandinavian history and culture, including the popular ‘History of the Vikings’ and courses in advanced Norwegian literature and culture. His research focuses on the social and cultural history of Norway in the modern period and on Scandinavian life in America and has published extensively on Norwegian and Scandinavian-American history and culture. Dr. Leiren has appeared on several television documentary programs about Scandinavia from the Vikings to World War II on PBS and the History Channel.

Trondheim and Kristiansund

Meet the MS Nordnorge

Built in 1997, MS Nordnorge is the fourth Hurtigruten ship to have this name, and from 2002–2007 it gave guests a memorable experience in Antarctica.
