The village of Ferragudo
You will enjoy a panoramic drive passing through Ferragudo, a village full of character. An important fishing community with its history reaching back to the Phoenicians and the Roman period, Ferragudo maintains the cobbled charm of its Algarvian maritime history. You will also see the fort of São João do Arade, which was constructed to defend Portimão and the Arade estuary from the frequent pirate raids.
Gorgeous Carvoeirio beach
You’ll continue to Carvoeiro, one of the most famous beaches of Algarve. You will stop at the viewpoint of Algar Seco for some photos of impressive rock foundations and then visit Carvoeirio beach.
Then you will visit the Portimão Museum, which was awarded in 2010 with the Council of Europe Museum Prize. The Portimão Museum, housed in a former sardine canning factory on the estuary of the Arade River, has successfully and engagingly captured the industrial and historical heritage of the Portimão area.
After the museum you’ll head to the Portimão city center and enjoy some free time at the beach and resort area of Praia da Rocha.
