Picturesque Algarve and Silves
From the pier you’ll drive through the cultivated and picturesque Algarve countryside toward Silves, the former capital of the Moorish province of Algarve, a place of grandeur during the Moors period. The city retains lots of character and has an interesting historical center. You'll visit the castle, which features original Moorish architecture, and enjoy the view of the town.
Up the mountains
You will then head north into the foothills of the Serra de Monchique, a green and wooded mountain range of cork, chestnut, and eucalyptus. You'll visit Caldas de Monchique, set in a ravine and a thermal spa since Roman times.
You'll continue to Fóia, the highest point of the Algarve (at 2,959 feet), and weather permitting you'll be able to admire the view over the coastline and further inland. Then you’ll enjoy a taste of Medronhos, the typical liqueur from this region.
Then you'll head to Alvor, famous for its deluxe, private resorts, and stop at Prainha beach. There will be time for lunch at Restaurant O Búzio, which overlooks the beach, followed by some time at your leisure. You can choose a stroll on the Prainha beach or simply relax in the sun.
