Tromsø is the largest town in northern Norway with a trove of fascinating stories about exploration and hunting in the high north.
We drive from Sommarøy to Tromsø, a ride of approximately one hour.
Along the way, the local guide talks about life in the far north and the northern lights. Once in town you have about an hour to explore Tromsø on your own, before the bus takes us out of town, over the bridge to the mainland and to the foot of the Fløya Mountain. From here we ride the cable car 1,900 feet up to the restaurant at the top to feast on the spectacular view over Tromsø and its surroundings.
Atop Mount Fløya you may stroll around on your own, find an isolated spot to enjoy the silence, get something at the cafe and souvenir shop, or chat with locals and other tourists.
We then ride the cable car back down and board the bus for the return trip to Sommarøy.
