This tour is more than just a strenuous hike. You will also learn about historical and modern uses of the mountains around Longyearbyen.
During the hike the guides will point out the tiny Arctic flowers, and be on the lookout for local wildlife.
We will pass an old mine entrance, and hike some steep sections to reach the peak at over 1,000 feet, from which we will head toward the renowned Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Because the vault is a secure location, guests are not able to enter the inside of the vault. The guide will explain its international significance and its construction. Then the bus will take us back to the harbor.
