In the period between November 14 and January 29 each year, a remarkable phenomenon occurs in Svalbard: the polar night. During these weeks the sun is at least 6 degrees under the horizon and the northern lights can be seen nearly any time of day. In the weeks before and after this period the night is still much longer than the day, still allowing you excellent chances of seeing the magical aurora.
The atmosphere is completely unique, and as you soak in the mystical darkness you will know you are a long way from the beaten track. You'll stop and enjoy the scenery, and the guide will serve hot drinks and biscuits, and will always be looking out for the natural 'fireworks' of the polar region!
