A local guide will meet us at the harbor and give an introduction to the small and charming capital of the Falkland’s. As the coach drives down Ross Road, the main street that runs along the seafront, the guide will tell you about everything of interest that we pass along the way. See the Cathedral with its whalebone arch, the 1982 Battle Memorial, wrecks of old sailing ships, a private whalebone display, the Stanley Airport, the Government House, the Community School, and the Mizzen Mast from the famous ‘SS Great Britain’. These stories will provide additional insight intothe Falklands’ heritage, social habits, and economy, and, at the same time, be quite entertaining.
Stunning views, a shipwreck, and maritime history
We also drive out of townto see the stunning views of Stanley from the bottom of the harbor and the shipwreck, the Lady Elizabeth. Various species of flora and fauna can also be seen on this tour, including the upland goose and flightless steamer duck. Thenyou have the opportunity to visit the Museum at Britannia House to learn all about the Falklands’ interesting maritime history and other aspects of the local history before returning to the ship or the drop off point at the Jetty Visitors Centre.
