Charming Colonia del Sacramento
Leave Montevideo in the morning and let us you take through the Uruguayan countryside to Colonia del Sacramento, located on the east bank of the Rio de la Plata and 112 miles west of Montevideo. The journey is approximately 2–2.5 hours each way.
Colonia was founded in 1680 by the Portuguese. The historical part of the town is covering a small peninsula jutting into the river and has a lot to tell about its colonial past. Visit the picturesque streets of Colonia del Sacramento, the eldest city in the country and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy some free time for lunch and to explore this charming town on your own after our guided walking tour (approx. one hour). Then we drive back to Montevideo.
