Northern Lights Promise

We’re so confident that the hauntingly beautiful northern lights will make an appearance during your Classic Roundtrip 12-day voyage in Norway that if they don’t, we’ll give you a 6- or 7-day Classic Voyage FREE OF CHARGE*.

Winter is perhaps the most incredible time of year to explore the snow-covered landscape of the Norwegian coast. Experience the aurora borealis – the northern lights – the incredible light show for which the polar night is so famous.

The northern lights are a natural phenomena that occur when the solar wind is stronger than normal, and electrically charged particles from the sun hurl toward Earth. The particles, electrons and protons form a magical light when they collide with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. The electromagnetic radiation creates undulating ribbons of light that vary in shape, strength and color. When the northern lights appear, the polar sky materializes in all its beauty as a canvas of light being pulled across the sky.
